Current Classes

Elisa Fierro holds an MA in Foreign Languages and Literatures (English and German) from the University of Naples (Italy) “Federico II”.

A teacher since 1992, she has taught at different levels (from elementary to university and continuing education to military students) in both Italy and in the United States. She recently retired from the University of Kansas (KU) where she was Italian lecturer and Academic Program Assistant, as well as Assistant Director of the KU Language and Culture in Florence Program, supervising students while in Italy in 2012 and 2015 for one month of total language immersion training. Elisa is the recipient of the KU Fraser Award (2012 and 2016) as well as several departmental awards for pedagogical excellence. She has published book reviews, essays and articles in Italian and English and is author of an Italian translation of tenor Enrico Caruso’s biography as well as an English translation of a book on the physiology of sprinting for the Strength and Conditioning Coach of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs. Elisa moved to the United States in 2002
