Meredith McMackin earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Oregon State University, a Masters in Teaching from Lewis & Clark College and taught high school art for six years at Lake Oswego High School.
After moving to Florida in 2000, she earned her Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art from Florida State University, where she later taught studio courses for several years. She returned to FSU in 2010 and earned her Master of Science in Art Therapy, and a Ph.D. in Art Education, with a focus in Art Therapy. She established Significant Fibers in 2017, a mobile paper-making studio, teaching traditional techniques with a focus on the transformative process of paper-making from cloth that holds personal significance. She has conducted multiple paper-making workshops with veterans, transforming discarded military uniforms into paper art.
