Vicki Shinneman moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1988 to attend the University of Washington where she graduated with a Master’s degree in Chinese language.
During her time at UW, she studied French, Tibetan, Mongolian and modern and classical Chinese language. She also traveled to China and Tibet where she discovered the beauty of Tibetan ponies. In 1995, Vick taught ESL in Seattle’s Chinatown where she tutored the last wave of Tibetan immigrants entering the country. She’s also worked for Hewlett Packard and taught first year Chinese language at Linfield. Her interest in Chinese medicine and homeopathy led her to pursue studies in Classical Chinese Medicine and classical homeopathy after retirement. She is now a licensed massage therapist and lives in Vancouver with her two Morgan horses, two dogs and a cat.
